| Our cistern control panel is for signaling a water
supply pump to turn on and fill a cistern, and to turn off when the
cistern is full. The pump control panel uses 2 float switches to control
the supply pump in the well. The control panel has a green pump run
light indicator, a HOA switch for manual pump control and a magnetic
contactor that controls the pump by switching electric power lines on
and off.
The cistern pump control is in a NEMA 4 outdoor enclosure, and has a magnetic contactor for control of pumps with loads of 7 to 15 amps. This control does not include an alarm, so you may wish to add an outdoor low water alarm to alert you to any problem with the supply pump. The float controls which you tether to a pipe in the cistern, to allow them to swing up and down to a controlled level, are both normally closed float switches. When the water level drops down to where you wish to turn on the supply pump, both floats will be hanging down, and their contacts will be closed, signaling to the supply pump to turn on and fill the cistern. When the water level in the cistern rises to where both floats are up, the contacts will open, turning off the power to the water supply pump. |
