RUBBER FORMATION PACKERS & SHALE TRAPS

The Formation Packer or Shale Trap is molded to fit snugly over PVC or steel liner casing. A stainless steel adjustable clamp is used to secure the formation packer on to the pipe. The stainless steel clamp is included with each formation packer in the price below.
The top portion of the formation packer is shaped like a funnel, which allows it to function equally efficiently in a wide range of hole diameters. The special compounded rubber is engineered for maximum elasticity which permits the funnel shape to compress in to the smaller well bores without creating overlays or folds in the rubber which could allow leakage or by-pass. It is also developed with a maximum strength characteristic which permits the cup to support above average static heads. The packer may be used for a number of applications such as a catcher for caving particles, cement slurry retainer for grout work, or as a bad water seal. It can be installed on the liner pipe at the well site as a dingle sealing unit; however, if extremely bad wall conditions exist in the well, it is advisable to install three or more shale traps on the liner pipe at approximately two foot intervals.
