Avoid Cold Weather Problems

Thermo Cube is a device which plugs into a standard GFI protected 120V AC outlet to automatically control turning power on and off for heat tape or stock tank heaters. By plugging the device into the Thermo Cube, when the air temperature reaches 35 degrees F, the Thermo Cube will turn on the power. When the Air temperature gets up to 45 degrees F, the power will turn off. This makes your heat tape more efficient to operate, since you are not having to run the power all the time. According to the manufacturer, you can use the Thermo Cube to control heat tape or stock tank heaters that are rated up to 1800 watts maximum or 15 amps total on 120V GFI protected circuits.

Raychem WinterGard Plus heat trace cable is a professional grade of 6 watt per foot, 120V self regulating electrical heat tape that is designed to protect water pipes from freezing in light commercial and residential applications. The WinterGard Plus heat trace cable is constructed of nickel-copper bus wires, a self regulating conductive core, and insulating jacket and a tinned-copper braid outer layer.

WinterGard Plus is much heavier duty than Frostex Plus heat tape, and can be used for those lengths longer than 50' in length. WinterGard Plus is 6 watt per foot of heat power to give more protection than even WinterGard 3 watt per foot heat trace cable does.

WinterGard Plus 120V 6 watt per foot heat tape is to be applied straight along the pipe. Chart indicates Metal when only able to use on Metal, and says Both when it can be used on both PVC and Metal pipe. When there is a number in the chart it indicates that you need to multiply your feet of pipe by that number to get the required feet of heat tape for the pipe being protected, and spiral it around the pipe. Indicated for the size of pipe and the thickness of closed cell insulation used on the outside of the pipe to protect to the desired temperature. Normally add 1' for plug kit and 1' for end fitting.
